  • The Barak-Shahak-Saguy triangle had a fourth side: Brig.-Gen. Ashkenazi, then chief of the operations division. Due to the vicissitudes of politics and the army, these men all moved to the sidelines - until they were called back following the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Defense Minister Amir Peretz appointed Shahak to investigate the IDF, but chief of staff Dan Halutz thwarted the move.
